Synagogue

The Memorial plate states: "At this place was erected the synagogue of Ehrenfeld, connected to a religious school for girls and boy, in 1927 after the concept of the architect Robert Stern. It was destroyed the day after the Reichprogromnacht at 8th of November 1938."

From the 750.000 Cologne people in 1933 20.000 had Jewish origin.

In 2004 the New Jewish Welfare Center (neues jüdisches Wohlfahrtszentrum) opened in the old asyl at the Ottostrasse, in which is installed a synagogue, a kindergarten, a basic school, a home for parents and the administration for more than 5000 members of the community of the synagogue.
