Jean Alexandre Vaillant (1804 - 1886)

J.-A. Vaillant, following Boiteau d'Ambly in his Les Cartes jouer et la cartomancie, Paris, 1854, popularisized the idea, that the Tarot cards were invented by the Gypsies (1857), contemporary to the publications of Eliphas Levi.
